This role is accountable for the delivery of safety, asset integrity, production and cost targets of the client’s portfolio of offshore and onshore operating assets. The COO ensures that the lifecycle value of the assets is maximized and in line with the long-term strategic aims.
Responsibilies (among others)
- Upholds personal and process safety through the right controls and culture.
- Ensures that process safety and integrity of the assets is technically assured, and the right assurance framework is in place.
- Achieve HSSE regulatory compliance and deliver the assets’ safety management plans.
- Delivers production performance and maximizes bottom line.
- Proactive identification and mitigation of key business, safety, operational and compliance risks.
- Develops and maintains a robust engineering and technical assurance pipeline and ensures that the capability is maintained in the long-term.
- Develops and maintains a commercially sound and cost-efficient contracting strategy.
- Establishes and manages production management systems, processes, and procedures.
- Maintains health and morale of the organization under the role’s remit. Leads, coaches guides and support direct reports.
- Maintains good relations with all stakeholders including relevant authorities and host communities. Responsible for the management of relationship of the asset’s JV partners, customer and government relationships. Sustains customer confidence.
- Acts as Shareholder Representative in Non-Operated Joint Ventures, and as Deputy to the CEO as required.
Reporting Line
The COO reports directly to the CEO and is a member of the Management Committee composed of Chief Finance Officer, Chief Administrative Officer/ Head of Legal, Head of Commercial, Head of New Business Development, and Chief of Staff.
Direct Reports and Staff
The direct reports are Head of Operations, Head of Engineering & Projects, Head of Supply Chain Management. Together they lead a community of 160 staff.
Experience and Qualifications required
The individual is expected to have a strong understanding of upstream and downstream gas operations. Skill in formulating long term strategy to enhance shareholder value without losing sight of ‘real-world’ safety and operational constraints.
A degree or equivalent qualification together with at least 15 years of broad experience in a technical business with a strong grounding in its commercial and contracting aspects.
Strong management experience within an operating environment, including ability to prioritize across a complex set of constraints, risks and opportunities.
Successful track record of running a production unit with accountability for achieving safety, asset integrity, production and cost targets.
Experience of working with a horizontal or asset leadership team with ongoing major projects, requiring peer-to-peer influencing to drive change amidst conflicting goals
Strong leadership skills and ability to coach, develop, motivate and maintain a high performing. diverse team.
Ability to communicate effectively at senior executive levels.
Excellent relationship building capabilities across broad stakeholder base.
